PrintE-mail

TAFF - Bucharest Arts Fair

PrintE-mail

Presentation

Bucharest Arts Fair - TAFF was organized by Art Promo Cultural Foundation with the support of The Ministry of Cults and Culture and the support of The National Contemporary Art Museum.

TAFF was the first attempt to organize a professional art fair in Romania, known as a space of great cultural tradition and dedicated to the promotion of visual arts ever since the 30's.

The public was able to see and purchase artworks signed by famous artists representing both modern and contemporary art from Romania and abroad. The public had the opportunity to become acquainted with gallery owners and art experts able to offer useful advice about all aspects involving the yet emerging art commerce, such as: the validation and the price quotation of an artwork and the variety of legal conditions.

The organizers carefully selected the exhibitors, taking into account their professional experience as demonstrated in recent years, each and every one of them representing an undeniable value.

By close selection of the artworks, this event managed to outline the difference between the authentic art object and trinketry and consequently, was able to narrow the offer to works of certified value.

TAFF held another very important purpose. The organizers planned to set up a range of professional criteria for the art market, necessary to draw a strong line between the truly valuable works and the fakes.

afis licitatie micIntroduction

Emotions help us understand our surroundings. Every civilization finds ways to express the abstract concepts of our minds into real distinguished forms by means of metaphors we call Art. By understanding those concepts we are offered the profound satisfaction that we are part of a particular community. Soon, 19 years will have passed since the iron curtain isolating Romania for 50 years has been lifted.

Romanian artists have rediscovered their country in the light of globalization and international art. Some have abandoned their land, others have remained. Brancusi, Brauner, Tzara and others have become milestones on the international art scene. A whole generation of artists has been on a quest to find the right measure between their own inspiration and the Parisian approach. Some of them have successfully cultivated local traditions. A young generation has found its place on the international art market by exhibiting worldwide. Recently, a number of Romanian galleries have made a great effort to build a realistic, transparent and efficient structure.
